Duchman Family Winery remains one of the top wine destinations in Texas. Our facility was listed by HGTV as one of the 20 most picturesque wineries in the country. All of the winery’s current releases can be sampled and purchased at the winery’s tasting room and the estate’s beautiful grounds are open to visitors. Duchman Family Winery was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman with a simple goal: to create exceptional wines in Texas inspired by the traditions of the Old World. Drawn to the character and balance of Italian wines, they set out to explore how these varietals could express themselves in Texas.
By partnering with growers in the High Plains AVA, they focused on grapes like Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Dolcetto—helping shape a distinctive and recognizable style of Texas winemaking. Their approach has always been rooted in quality, consistency, and a belief that great wine begins in the vineyard.
Working alongside the Duchmans is winemaker Dave Reilly, whose experience and thoughtful approach to winemaking have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. His focus on balance, structure, and letting the fruit speak has helped define the style and quality that Duchman is known for today.
Over the years, that vision has grown into something much larger. Duchman Family Winery has become a place where guests can experience thoughtfully crafted wines in a welcoming setting, while also helping elevate the reputation of Texas wine on a broader stage.
Today, their continued commitment to quality and innovation—paired with Dave’s winemaking leadership—has established Duchman as one of the premier wineries in the state, known for wines that are both approachable and true to their origins.

A native Texan, Dave Reilly’s journey into wine began in 2000 when—by his own admission—he decided to plant a vineyard in the Texas Hill Country with little more than determination and curiosity. Without formal training in viticulture, Dave built his foundation through hard work, a well-worn library of books, and the mentorship of respected Texas grape-growing experts.
What started as an ambitious experiment quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit. Driven by a deep passion for growing grapes and making wine, Dave immersed himself in every aspect of the craft, gaining hands-on experience across all corners of the cellar.
In 2008, Dave joined Duchman Family Winery as head winemaker, taking the reins of production and helping shape the style and quality the winery is known for today. Under his leadership, Duchman wines have earned recognition in competitions across the country, reflecting both consistency and a clear sense of identity.
Dave’s winemaking philosophy is straightforward: to create wines that are true to their varietal character using the highest quality grapes grown in Texas. His approach emphasizes balance, authenticity, and a respect for the fruit—allowing each wine to speak for itself.
